This is a Hybrid position within our Digital Business Team organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility.
The General Motors Connected Customer Mobility Solutions group is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for potential future opportunities as a Scrum Master. What You Do
• This role is responsible for leading cross-functional team processes and deliverables to bring innovative products and services to the market. This key role will coordinate and facilitate the scrum team through Agile processes including capacity management, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, demos, and retrospectives for cross-functional Agile teams. The ability to communicate clearly and to all levels of the organization is essential.
• In addition, you will also:
• Coach relentless improvement and foster an environment in which your team(s) can execute and thrive.
• Maintain a sprint burn-down, based on capacity and velocity predictions.
• Use flow metrics based on a Kanban board to help the team resolve bottlenecks and wait-time.
• Maintain team working agreements, definition of ready/done, help resolve impediments, facilitate efficiencies, and increase the probability of meeting/exceeding sprint and Program Increment goals.
• Track and maintain qualitative and quantitative metrics.
• Champion accountability within and outside the team without finger pointing nor divisiveness.
• Represent your team(s) at scrum-of-scrums, managing risks and coordinating dependencies across teams.
• Provide visibility and transparency to the Release Train Engineer and senior management of team progress and issues.
• Promote a collaborative, performance-oriented team environment that fosters creativity, innovation and relentless improvement.
Additional Job Description:
Minimal Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (technical discipline preferred) or 4+ years equivalent experience.
• Certified Scrum Master.
• 2+ years facilitating teams.
• 5+ years in an IT solutions provider environment.
• Experience with globally distributed and virtual teams.
• Detailed understanding of Scaled Agile software development methodologies, values, principles, and practices.
• Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Competent in enterprise and agile project management tools.
• Experience in working with business partners, technology teams and customers in defining requirements, acceptance criteria and managing risks and deliverables.
• Exceptional listening and communication skills with a strong ability to articulate business problems, alternatives and strategies to a project team and customer groups.
• Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be willing to embrace change and work through ambiguity.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills including strong presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in a technical discipline.
• 2+ years of SAFe Agile Coaching experience.
• SAFe Agile Scrum Master, Product Owner, or SAFe Agilist Certification.
• Experience as a developer, tester, business analyst, or UX designer, especially in an Agile environment.
• Experience with Extreme Programming (XP), DevOps, or other Agile engineering practices is a plus.
• Experience conducting stand-up training.
• Experience developing training materials.
• Experience leading organizational change management.
• Experience designing and deploying methodologies in many types of organizations.
