Role Summary

The Sr. Software Development Lead reports to the Manager, Software Development DCFC and L2 and is responsible for leading the development of Electrify America’s charging network software frontend (e.g. HMI, vehicle communications including standard compliance, payment systems and backend connectivity) and other customer touchpoints. In this role, the Software Development Lead needs to have a solid working knowledge of software development processes and rollout strategies (e.g. AGILE). The candidate will take on the role of Scrum Master for ELAM’s vendors, setting priorities and communicating them internally and externally. Strong understanding of feature-based development timelines is critical to assess feasibility, planning out development sprints and tracking vendor performance. This person will work closely with the quality team to streamline the implementation of field bug fixes and improve the customer experience. In addition, the Software Development Lead has strategic input into system architecture and communicates processes, timelines, and features to ELAM’s C-suite. This person will support the Strategy and Business Development teams by turning ideas into practical solutions, in addition to improving the organization's Jira and Confluence environments.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the development, testing, and roll-out of ELAM’s charging network software frontend. 75%
  • Lead feature and idea collection processes and convert into practical milestones
  • Assemble development sprint plans
  • Guide all suppliers during the development and test phases (Scrum Master)
  • Create test scripts and validate developed product together with test engineers
  • Sign off on releases and lead deployment efforts
  • Collaborate with Quality team. 15%
  • Help identify field issues and work fixes into sprint plan
  • Support forward-looking analysis of system logs to identify issues before manifestation
  • Provide technical support for operations team / network op’s center. 5%
  • Support to correctly identify and categorize field software bugs
  • Manages allocated budget and complies with EA’s policies and procedures regarding budget allocation. 5% .

Required Qualifications

  • 7-10 years
  • Computer or Electrical Engineering background or equivalent

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Desired Education

  • Master’s degree, MBA or equivalent

Specialized Skills - Required

  • Software project management experience
  • Experience applying AGILE development principles or other iterative approaches
  • Basic knowledge of programming and good understanding of software development lead times
  • Office Staff and Multi-Vendor Management Experience
  • Vendor and Stakeholder negotiation experience

Specialized Skills - Desired

  • Experience in C-Suite presentation

Work Flexibility

  • Local role in Reston, VA with time split between office and charging/vehicle test lab;<10% travel
