The Scrum Master is a critical component of my customer's fast paced Agile (Scrum) teams. The person in this role is a key Agile team contributor that facilitates Agile rituals, encourages adoption of Agile best practices, represents team at Scrum of Scrum sessions, resolves conflicts, participates in Big Room Planning, removes impediments to help foster team success and reports out on team progress. The Scrum Master is responsible for one or more Agile teams.

Essential Functions:

• Function as the Scrum Master for assigned teams. Foster and model a collaborative team environment driven to build great software.

• Ensure strong working relationships between the team and others outside of the team. Protect teams from outside interruptions and distractions.

• Facilitate Agile rituals across assigned teams including planning, refinement, demos, reviews, retrospectives and daily standups. Facilitate at both the sprint and release level. Participate in Big Room Planning Sessions.

• Encourage the adoption of Agile best practices and facilitate team performance improvements. Assist in the resolution of conflicts.

• Support Scrum Team execution by enabling global activities, reporting team progress, identifying/mitigating risks, facilitating cross team communications, removing impediments and monitoring overall team health.

• Monitor and report key Agile performance metrics out to the leadership team including objective completion and percentage complete metrics. Assist with the entry and management of stories, objectives and story point estimations in Jira and Confluence.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business or a related field required.

• This position requires 2-4 years as a Scrum Master or equivalent.

• Current Scrum Master certification is desired or in process.

• Experience working with global teams is helpful.

• Experience in the health / dental insurance industry would be valuable.

• Experience working in a software vendor environment and working with external customers is desired.

• Experience with team leadership and motivation.

• Experience using Agile performance metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement is useful.

• Ability to negotiate and resolve conflict in order to remove impediments.

• Ability to work with IT professionals, business professionals and customers at all levels within the organization.

• Must be highly energetic, self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to easily adapt to change.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work under time constraints and rapidly changing priorities where a quality product is key.

• Have excellent organization, planning and time management abilities.

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Use of Jira/Confluence or similar tools is preferred.

• Must be proficient with the use of a PC and Microsoft Office software products.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


Will be leading one or more scrum teams (1-2). Conduct daily stand up meetings, assist PO and documentation, hold team members accountable, ensuring that the appropriate reporting is completed, assist in setting up meetings, ability to resolve and escalate issues from the team. Need to have a servant mentality.

Top Skills Details:

1. 2-3 year scrum master experience with leading daily stand up meetings, scrum ceremonies, facilitating sprints and releases.
