The Scrum Master leads and coaches Agile / Scrum teams, ensures processes are being followed, educates the team in agile methodologies and frameworks, and removes impediments to foster a high-performing team environment where high quality products are consistently delivered to the customer.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsible to facilitating daily scrum, sprint / iteration planning, sprint / iteration demo and retrospective meetings.
Coaches agile practices to the team - individuals and interactions over processes and tools.
Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
Shields the Agile / Scrum team from outside distractions and interference.
Removes impediments to team progress.
Acts as the expert in estimation and planning for agile teams.
Supports and educates the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
Assesses the Scrum Maturity of the team, and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgement, with an emphasis of cooperation and problem solving.
Guides the team and supporting organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to deliver outstanding products and business value to customers.
Leads by example in all aspects of Agile/Scrum practices and values.
Acts as a servant leader to the team.
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in software development.
Certified Scrum Master certification (or equivalent).
At least 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master for teams in an Agile / Scrum environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or other SAFe Certification(s).
Knowledge and understanding of mission planning needs of military aviators is a plus.
Knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), Atlassian suite, or other team management suite.
